Featured Band – May 2009

GPKISM

GPKISM is a relatively new, charismatic two-man unit, which combines experimental electronic sounds, EBM, Industrial and Baroque styles with operatic vocals and intense use of the Latin and Greek languages. Their concept is "the manifestation of baroque essence, fused with electro/industrial sound, creating a unique world both decadent and sublime."

GPK (Vocals)                         Kiwamu  (guitar)                 RYONAI (Live Keyboards)

GPKISM started off in 2007, as the solo project of GPK, a talented upcoming artist from Australia. They met up with Kiwamu (leader, main composer and guitarist of BLOOD) on the internet and decided to collaborate. GPK’s mix was later featured in BLOOD’s DEAD-HEARTED EP. In September of the same year, Kiwamu joined the band, which thereafter took the name “GPKISM”.

Kiwamu’s priceless knowledge and experience in the international music reality and GPK’s musical charm, resulted in the creation of a unique, powerful group, that was certainly missing from the Japanese scene.

Their first mini-album with the title Sublimis”, was released on the 20th of January, 2008. Followed up by their first live appearance on April the 13th at Alamode Night 31 feat. Darkest Labyrinth, at StudioCube236, together with RYONAI (BLAM HONEY) on keys. In September they released their first Maxi-single Illuminatum and later on embarked on their first tour with the title Lament for the Fallen Star” . Atheos”, GPKISM’s first full album, hit the stores on March the 4th, 2009, including re-recorded versions of their previous material as well as new compositions.

GPKISM belong to the Gothic Record Label ,Darkest Labyrinth”, owned by Kiwamu and have already toured successfully in various places throughout the U.S.A., Latin America, Europe, Australia and Japan.

A band to keep an eye on!
